Statement of Faith

God

We believe in one, trinitarian God, who is three persons in one being: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is the Creator, Sustainer, and eternal Lord of the universe, and he is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good, holy, and righteous. Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; Isaiah 6:3

Man

All human beings are created in the image of God and are meant to follow him and emulate his character. All men have intrinsic value as image-bearers of God, but all have also sinned against God and marred this image. Sin separates men from God and earns mankind judgment and death. Genesis 1:26; Romans 3:23

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is God’s only Son, who is both fully God and fully man and co-equal with the Father. He has eternally existed as the Son but became incarnate in flesh, being born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life before being crucified under Pontius Pilate as a perfect sacrifice for the sin of all mankind. He resurrected bodily on a third day, offering new life to all who believe, and he ascended into heaven. He will return one day to establish his kingdom. John 1:1, 1:14; Philippians 2:6-11; Matthew 1:21-25; Acts 1:9; Revelation 21

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son, and he applies salvation to those who have faith and acts as their Counselor. He bestows spiritual gifts to believers for the service of the church. Ephesians 1:13; Matthew 12:21; 1 Corinthians 12

Salvation

Due to sin, all men deserve death and separation from God, but salvation is available through faith in Christ by the grace of God. Repentance from sin and faith in Christ grants forgiveness of sin and justifies one before God, leading to a relationship with God in this life and eternal life thereafter. Faith is more than intellectual assent but a willful trust in Jesus Christ and his work. John 3:16-17; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9

Church

We believe that the Church is comprised of regenerate believers and will be the future bride of Christ. In the meantime, the Church is manifest in local congregations, who are to do good works and carry out the Great Commission.

Baptism

We believe that baptism should only be performed on those who express faith in Christ, and such people should be immersed. It symbolizes Christ’s death and resurrection and serves as a public confession of faith to the church and the world.

Scripture

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word which is infallible in what it teaches. The original manuscripts are without error and have been faithfully passed down to us. It is sufficient in its teaching in matters of salvation and faithful obedience.
