History and Vision

One Light Church (then Hanbit Church, the Korean phrase for One Light) was started in 2016 by Pastor Myung Lee and his wife Melody after over thirty years of pastoral ministry in Abilene, TX. In Abilene, Pastor Lee shepherded Abilene Korean Church before transitioning it to become the International Baptist Church of Abilene, a congregation that was a mix between Koreans and other ethnicities. The Abilene church wanted to serve Koreans but also to expand its reach to the surrounding community by conducting worship service in both Korean and English, with translation bridging the gap. The Gospel of Jesus Christ therefore went out to both Koreans and non-Koreans in the area.

Pastor Lee has brought that vision to the Dallas area. Thus, One Light Church started as a Korean church but now does most of its ministry in English to be able to minister to more people. The goal is for the Korean and English ministries to be unified under Christ and one vision, having a healthy and mutually supporting relationship with one another. The church seeks to teach God’s Word, spread the Gospel, evangelize, and disciple, breaking down the barriers that are often brought by differences of language and ethnicity.
